HP Pavilion dv6 Laptop with AMD’s Trinity is Here

One of the first laptops with the new AMD Trinity line of APUs is now available to purchase via HP.com, the HP Pavilion dv6-7010us comes with the Quad Core AMD A8-4500M APU that’s part of the new AMD Trinity lineup of processors. You can see the specs and details for this AMD A8-4500M processor at NotebookCheck.net. This specific dv6 model comes with an AMD Radeon 7640G graphics card, 6GB of RAM and a 750GB HD. The display on this fixed configuration model is unfortunately a measly 1366 x 768, but hopefully we’ll see more options as HP rolls out more models containing the AMD Trinity.

To refresh or for those uninitiated, the AMD Trinity lineup is the successor to last years Llano lineup from AMD and is the answer to Intel’s Ivy Bridge. Once again AMD is upping the game in the integrated graphics department making their integrated graphics much more powerful that what Intel offers with the HD 4000. The AMD HD 7640G should perform in line with the dedicated AMD HD 7610M graphics card according to NotebookCheck.net. However, overall processing performance will still lag that of say the latest Intel Core i5 processor.

The Pavilion dv6-7000 series this new Trinity APU is being offered in is a solidly built machine. We recently reviewed the HP dv6t-7000 Quad Edition laptop which has the same chassis, screen and cooling system as this dv6-7010us it’s just the internals that are different. Read that review to get an idea of the design and build quality. The price of dv6-7010us is $699.99, cheaper than the Intel version of this machine that starts at $899.
