The Dell Vostro 3560 is a new 15.6” screen small business laptop that started selling today on Dell.com with a starting price of $599. The Vostro 3560 sports the latest Intel processor technology, the third generation Core processors dubbed Ivy Bridge. You can configure up to a Core i7 Quad Core processor and there’s even dedicated graphics offered in the form of the AMD Radeon 7670M GPU. The screen can be configured as either a 1366 x 768 720p screen or high definition 1920 x 1080 Full HD screen, both have a matte finish. The port selection on the Vostro 3560 is what we’d call generous, you get VGA, HDMI, four USB 3.0 ports (one of which is powered), Ethernet RJ-45, headphone, microphone, 34mm ExpressCard slot and media card reader. You of course get a built-in optical drive, though the only choice for that is a DVD burner.
The design of the Vostro 3560 is quite similar to last years Vostro 3550, though the color has changed to silver on the inside instead of black. You can still get different lid color options that include red, silver or brown. The keyboard uses an island style key design (chiclet) and is full sized but does not offer a built-in number pad like the competing ThinkPad Edge E530 does. The Vostro 3560 weight comes in at a rather hefty 5.75lbs and the thickness ranges from 1.14” to 1.28”, so it’s not exactly slim. The keyboard has a backlight option, something we definitely recommend jumping for, it makes typing in dimly lit rooms so much easier.
Other notable features of the Vostro 3560 include a built-in web camera and microphone at the top for video conferencing, spill resistant keyboard, multi-touch touchpad with dedicated buttons and a one touch Quick Recovery button at the top of the keyboard for easily updating your system or restoring it.
